About Us
In the year dot, Ellie Pennington and Lisa Stockton (at this point, two weeny girls) met under a rather nice acorn tree in sunny Chester at Huntington Primary School. From that day on they have been bestest of friends, chasing bees in fields and generally having fun!
...And what a lovely 20 year friendship of baking and fun it has been. Not-so-many moons ago, we met and rather than trading stickers behind the bike sheds, we took our hand to huge bake-offs to feed all our delightful (and hungry!) friends and families. We reckon we turned out just about ok.
Now, thereʼs one thing you have to know about us. We donʼt just LOVE making food. Weʼre pretty passionate about a few things. We hope you enjoy our story...
Social Enterprise - People NOT profit
We are a company limited by guarantee. This means we can never let anyone own shares of the company and make us act for profits sake. We want to be able to make decisions based on what is best for people and the environment, not for solely making money. We pay our staff, overheads and the day to day running of things. Then after that, the money goes to charity and to enable us to bring our message of health for the planet and for people. We run cooking classes with children showing how to prepare food with seasonal and plant based ingredients. We do fun things like looking at how foods have got here, where they originate and the people involved in their production. We talk a bit about organic and fair-trade aswell in a fun and interesting way!
If youʼre a school that would like us to give a talk, presentation, run a class after school or such like then please get in contact - we hope we can help.
We also raise money for farming and climate change mitigating projects in developing countries - we are currently raising money for AAH - Action Against Hunger (www.aahuk.org)
Please make a donation if you can to their very important projects overseas...
